Head of the Transitional Military Council in Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has told the BBC that the army will not use force against protesters who want it to leave power, while the Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA) warned of possible attempts by the army to break up the gathering.
The SPA released a statement warning that the security forces attempted to break up their gathering, which has been going for more than three weeks.
Thousands of people poured into the streets to join marches and sit-ins in response to the SPA call. Thousands have ridden on the ‘Nile train’ from Atbara, River Nile state, to the capital Khartoum.
“The TMC issued a number of important decisions and constitutional decrees concerning the restructuring of the state bodies, including relieving a number of ambassadors of their duties,” said a formal Transitional Military Council’s statement.
Those affected by the move are the Sudanese ambassadors in Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Thailand, Niger and Rwanda, as well as the consul in the Egyptian city of Aswan.
The military council has also fired the director of the Presidential Airlines Brigadier General Ibrahim al-Khader.
In the first appearance of General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who goes by the nickname Hemedti, he revealed the presence of giant firms controlling billions of dollars.
During his meeting with military leaders, he stated that there is a large number of regime figures seeking to maintain their interests. Daglo pledged to hand out the funds collected from the former regime figures or other authorities to the Central Bank of Sudan.
Daglo denied that ousting former President Omar al-Bashir was a play so that the army can take over the rule.
In a related matter, the Acting Attorney - General Alwaleed Sayed Ahmed Mahmoud has directed the Land Prosecution to start investigations on all real estates belonging to former regime's officials and their families, Sudan News Agency reported.
Attorney Ali Sayyid said in a press conference in Khartoum Wednesday that whoever calls for exclusion should bear the consequences. At the same time, he expressed readiness to be held accountable for any charges against him given that he was part of the past regime.
