Magu Tasks Nigerian Youths on Probity, Diligence

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has called on Nigerian students and youths in general, to uphold values of discipline, diligence, hardwork and integrity.

Magu stated this during an enlightenment campaign held at Wesley University, Ondo, Ondo State, on Monday, April 8, 2019.

Represented by Williams Oseghale, Head, Public Affairs of the EFCC Benin Zonal Office, the EFCC boss stated that as future leaders of Nigeria, the youth represents the future.
He said: "There has never been any shortcut to success, and there will never be. Let nobody deceive you. Those who attempted it are part of the 315 convictions the Commission secured in 2018 and also about 200 so far recorded in this year, 2019."
He further urged them to be good ambassadors, stressing that youths had a critical role to play by standing up to be counted in the fight against corruption.
"You cannot afford to be indifferent or sit on the fence in the fight against corruption. One way you can enlist as an anti-corruption crusader is to be an example in transparency, discipline, integrity and all the right values", he added.

He noted that it was disheartening that some young people who should be aspiring to achieve successes in their careers, vocation or trade are lured into economic and financial crimes because of inordinate desire to make wealth.

"The corrupt and other economic and financial criminals can no longer hide because the Commission is working assiduously to bring them to justice," he said.

He stated that the EFCC will not relent in dealing with internet fraudsters and other criminal elements in the society.

Chioma Obasi, Registrar of Wesley University, commended the EFCC for embarking on such enlightenment campaign.

"The campaign has gone a long way in enriching the student’s knowledge on the activities of fraudsters and the role of EFCC in the fight against corruption," Obasi said.
