Search and rescue teams found wreckage from a Japanese F-35 stealth fighter that crashed over the Pacific Ocean close to northern Japan, but the pilot remains missing, authorities said on Wednesday.
The JASDF said Wednesday it has found what could be debris of an F-35A stealth fighter belonging to the Japan Air Self-Defence Force's (JASDF) fleet which was reportedly to have disappeared from radars on Tuesday, 135 kilometres (84 miles) east of the Misawa Air Base located in the country's northern Aomori prefecture, according to broadcaster NHK.
The Rescue and recovery efforts are expected to be difficult as the aircraft went down over deep water.
