France investigates its actions during Rwanda genocide

The finding in two years could send a message to Kigali that Paris is ready for honest reconciliation.

French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed a panel of experts to investigate France's actions during the Rwandan genocide 25 years ago on April 7.

Macron has also met representatives of a group of survivors in Paris.

France and Rwanda have had a strained relationship since the genocide in 1994.

Rwanda has accuses France of complicity in 1994 genocide.

In the past, Rwandan government had asked the French for permission to question some of the 22 French military officers who it said bore some responsibility for the killings. The French government has never replied to that request, said Ms. Mushikiwabo, the foreign minister then.
