Be Good Example, Magu Tasks Corp Members

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to be good example in conduct and character in their service to their fatherland. Magu stated this today, April 10, during an enlightenment campaign on the ills of corruption at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ikare Akoko, Ondo State.

Speaking on the topic: “The Role of Youths in Curbing Corruption”, the EFCC chairman who was represented by Williams Oseghale, Head, Public Affairs Department, Benin Zonal Office stated that corruption was at the intersection of the country's development. "It is the reason our country is still touted as a potentially great nation after fifty eight years of sovereign statehood. It is the reason our roads are in appalling state. No sector of our policy is spared," he stated.
He urged the Corp members to see the fight against corruption as a national call to duty. "We want you to take ownership of the fight against corruption in our country. Young people are energetic and innovative. You cannot afford to be mere spectators in the fight against corruption. It is for this reason that we urge you to partner with the Commission in its effort to exterminate corruption from Nigeria. Please enlist as foot soldiers and whistle blowers in your area of primary assignment," he said.

He charged the Corp members to embrace hard work and shun every act of criminality. "There is no substitute for hard work as there is no short cut to success. So, we enjoin you to embrace the right values and to shun internet fraud and other economic and financial crimes perpetuated by some unscrupulous people ".
